Wednesday - 13 June 2007 - Suga Candy Shop

We went to Chadstone Shopping Centre this afternoon and this candy shop caught her eyes...the guys inside were beginning to make candy so we stood there and watched..... Suga is a little shop that make their own candy and lollipops...you can see this little boy sinking his teeth into that yummy lollipop...
And the assortment of candies....strawberry, banana, cherry, cola, blueberry...you name the flavour they have it...and all the different colourful patterns...
Here you see the process of making the candy, they pour the sugar syrup onto a hotplate then put the colours into the sugar, cut up the different coloured candy pieces and then put them onto this large hook and start pulling...the longer he do it the shiner the candy gets.
Now he's cutting up the candy and arranging them to make the words on the candy
Now he starts arranging the white coloured candy with the purple coloured ones...
He use sugar water to stick the 2 colours together to form layers...then he adds more and more then adding the other colours of orange and green candy stirps.
Now after all the coloured candy is combined together, they roll it into a big roll... slowly he starts pulling the candy from into smaller rolls and breaks it off according to the required length.
Now the other guy use the fan to blow dry the candy to harden it ...
These are the long strips of candy waiting to be cut into smaller bite size pieces...
And this is the final outcome, Hard candy with words in the middle...Hmmm....Yummy too !
And the end strip of the candy is broken in bigger bits and sold to kids in packets for those who don't mind some weird looking hard candy.
